Employers Improve Employee Well-Being With Free Financial Education

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 1, 2006 – Employers want their workforce to be financially savvy, because when employees are smarter and more comfortable about their future, the company wins. However, there continues to be a broad aversion to allowing financial institutions free access to their employee population. Fortunately there is another option available that can enable employers to increase workforce well- being, retain top performers, and offer additional benefits to their employees--all without spending a dime in the process.

Money Management Educators (MME) is a nationwide, education-only corporation that has been providing financial education services through on-site workshops and personal education sessions to employers since 1989. There is generally no cost to the company or their employees.

MME is able to offer this service through the cooperation of a network of local financial services professionals across the country that pay dues to support the program and volunteer a portion of their time to MME’s educational services. Because MME focuses exclusively on high quality financial education, not particular products or services, there is never the risk of a sales-pitch often found with financial institutions.

Offered as a supplemental employee benefit, MME provides multiple levels of service tailored to each organization and its specific benefits. Programs range from cost-free local Lunch & Learn workshops to cost-effective customized employee interaction with a high-touch emphasis. Workshops are highly interactive using workbooks that attendees complete themselves for maximum information retention.

Companies such as Hewlett Packard, Adobe Systems and Intel have all utilized MME’s educational services. Boeing brought in MME in 2003 to conduct workshops for employees facing lay-offs. After the lay-offs they continued to sponsor MME workshops totaling more than 200 sessions to date with over 4000 employees attending. “We have heard nothing but praise from our folks who have attended [the MME workshops] and comments about how much they wished someone had presented this information to them years ago,” said Gary Jackson, Executive Director of IAM/Boeing Joint Programs in Tukwila, Washington in a letter posted on MME’s website.

MME is headquartered in Northern California and began expanding to other regions several years ago to service the employee populations of their large nationwide corporate clients. In a few years they intend to have volunteer Educators in every metropolitan area of the country, said Richard Stivers, the organization’s National Director, who credits their success to their “principle of giving.”

“Employers and their employees appreciate us because we make every effort to give them more value than they ever expect to receive, especially from a no-cost service,” says Stivers. That giving principle extends past the workplace since the organization is wholly owned by Aidan Foundation, a non-profit charity supporting programs for underprivileged youth and other worthwhile causes around the world.
